About the Ghana Teachers Association (GTA)

The Ghana Teachers Association (GTA) is a forward-thinking community of teachers dedicated to the welfare, recognition and empowerment of educators across Ghana.

Who We Are

The Ghana Teachers Association (GTA) is a professional, non-political association committed to restoring the dignity, recognition and respect accorded to the teaching profession in Ghana.

We bring together teachers from pre-tertiary and tertiary institutions, both public and private, into a united community focused on wellbeing, empowerment and national development.

Unlike traditional unions, GTA exists to celebrate teachers, support their welfare, and make teaching the rewarding and fulfilling profession it ought to be.

Our Core Purpose

The Ghana Teachers Association exists for one primary reason:
To restore recognition, dignity and respect to the teaching profession.

Teachers are the foundation of every profession, yet for too long the profession has been undervalued and misunderstood. GTA is the movement ensuring teachers are heard, celebrated and honored for their central role in shaping Ghana’s future.

Why GTA Is Needed

Teachers Deserve Recognition

Every doctor, lawyer, engineer or leader was taught by a teacher, yet teachers remain the least celebrated. GTA changes this narrative by spotlighting educators as national heroes.

Respect Builds Pride and Motivation

When teachers are respected, they stand tall. GTA works to make teaching a profession of pride, where students can boldly say, “I want to be a teacher.”

Wellbeing Is a Path to Dignity

True respect is lived, not spoken. GTA links recognition with welfare—housing, transport, health and lifestyle support—because when teachers live well, society respects them.

Teachers as Investors, Not Only Salary Earners

GTA introduces teacher-owned investment opportunities, enabling teachers to build wealth and long-term security beyond monthly salaries.

Making Teaching a Profession of Prestige

Through awards, wellness programs and national platforms, GTA ensures teachers receive the admiration accorded to other respected professions.
